“Strengthen, Help, Advance, Develop, Openness, Wisdom, Mentor, Equip”
This is an invitation to partner with The Shadow Foundation in launching a historical movement bringing forth
the unheard voices of women who fought for righteousness and injustice.
This incarceration is not just a sentence served by a single individual. It’s a reality that reverberates through an entire family. The guardian who remains behind often faces extreme financial and emotional struggles. For girls and young women who are thrust into such a life, it becomes even harder for them to surmount the incredible odds that this situation places them into. Some of these odds include psychological strain, antisocial behavior, suspension or expulsion from school, economic hardship, and criminal activity.
The only way that this cycle can be broken is if these girls are encouraged and supported to finish their education. The Shadow Foundation was set up with this goal in mind, to help young women between the ages of 18 to 21 complete their education.
Better educated women tend to be more informed about nutrition and health care, marry at a later age, and their children are usually healthier, should they choose to become mothers. They are more likely to participate in the formal labor market and earn higher incomes. All these factors combined can help lift households, communities, and countries out of poverty.
Sponsor a girl today and see the difference you will make in their lives.
With your support, they can secure the information, opportunities and encouragement they need to swap a potentially dark future for the chance to forge their own promising bright path forward.
